Camelot Therapeutic Day School located in Des Plaines provides therapy and academic instruction for children and adolescents, ages 5 to 21, requiring special education services for social/emotional disorders, learning disabilities, autism and other health impairments.

The school contains twelve classrooms, each with a certified teacher and classroom counselor with a bachelor’s degree in psychology or a related field. There is one social worker or therapist for approximately every fifteen students, and no more than ten students are assigned to a classroom at a time. Individual assistants are assigned to students in the Intensive Care Program. The school’s physical education teacher and recreational therapist instruct and coordinate the physical education program and programs with the Chicago Area Alternative Education League (CAAEL).

FACILITIES

In addition to the twelve classrooms, facilities include an administrative wing, a large recreation hall, a kitchen, a large dining room, offices, a large occupational therapy room and a computer lab. Offices are centered along the main hallway allowing for good communication between the education staff and the therapists.

The school is located approximately one mile from the Camelot Schools Residential Treatment Center. Both day school and residential students have access to the gym, pool, baseball field, basketball courts and soccer field located on the residential property.
