Camelot of Illinois
Hoffman Estates Campus
Camelot Therapeutic Day School located in Hoffman Estates provides therapy and academic instruction for children and adolescents, ages 3 to 21, requiring special education services for autism, specific learning disabilities, developmental disabilities, multiple disabilities, orthopedic impairment, developmental delay, social/emotional disorders, traumatic brain injury and other health impairments.
The school contains ten classrooms, each with a certified teacher and classroom counselor with a bachelor’s degree in psychology or a related field. There is one social worker or therapist for approximately every sixteen students, and no more than ten students are assigned to a classroom at a time. All classrooms are self-contained in the Autism Center and elementary section and departmentalized in the junior high and high school sections. Physical education teachers and individual assistants for students in the Intensive Care Program are on staff throughout the year.
AUTISM CENTER
In addition to large, self-contained classrooms, the Autism Center has a grooming room with two shampoo sinks, a shower, washer and dryer, a sensory room, a quiet room, an OT room, a speech room and social work rooms for play therapy. The center is autistic friendly with recessed lighting and tile floors.
FACILITIES
The classrooms are spacious and receive plenty of natural light. Offices are centered along the main hallway allowing for good communication between the education staff and the therapists. Facilities include a kitchen for home economics, an all-purpose room for lunch and larger group activities and a separate Autism Center.
