Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD)

Bipolar Disorder

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD)

Pervasive Developmental Disorder (PDD)

Aspergers

The school contains ten classrooms, each with a certified teacher and classroom counselor with a bachelor’s degree in psychology or a related field. No more than ten students are assigned to a classroom at a time and classes are mostly self-contained with some departmentalization.

Six therapists provide each student a minimum of forty-five minutes of individual therapy per week. Therapists have frequent contact with parents and provide ongoing clinical information and support for the classroom staff enhancing the valued team approach utilized at Camelot. A drug and alcohol counselor provides individual assessment and group therapy.

Two physical education teachers and an assistant provide physical education classes and coach the interscholastic sports and academic activities provided by the Chicago Area Alternative Education League (CAAEL). Camelot students currently participate in basketball, softball, flag football, volleyball, soccer, bowling and chess, competing against other private therapeutic day schools in the area.

FACILITIES

The classrooms are spacious and receive plenty of natural light. Carpeting in the classrooms reduces noise and provides a warm, comfortable environment. Offices are centered along the main hallway allowing for good communication between the education staff and the therapists. Facilities include a kitchen, lunchroom, all-purpose room for larger group activities and alcoves outside each classroom providing semi-private places for students needing some time away from the group.

SCHEDULE

During the regular school year, classes meet Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
