In a 2011 report, "From Remediation to Acceleration: Early Lessons From Two Philadelphia Back On Track Schools" Jobs for the Future says...
"Excel Academy North and Excel Academy South achieved strong gains, with between one-fourth and one-third of students advancing four grade levels in just one year.
In the course of one year, more than two-thirds of students at each school progressed two or more grade levels in reading, and the same was true in math.
In each subject area (math and reading), more than one-quarter [of students] advanced four or more years compared to an average of (3) three percent at Philadelphia's other accelerated programs."
