Camelot of Tennessee
Kingston
Camelot's Residential Treatment Center located in Kingston provides a medically supervised, multidisciplinary program of mental health treatment to children who have demonstrated severe and persistent psychiatric disorders. The Kingston Center specializes in the treatment of children ages 4 to 12, but accepts adolescents up to the age of 17. An IQ as low as 50 will be considered.
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
All programs provide 24-hour supervision, a structured living environment and a wide variety of onsite therapeutic services to children needing intensive psychiatric and behavioral services. The center is located in a beautiful rural setting providing the additional therapeutic benefits of nature. Children have supervised access to woods, pastures, a horse barn and stables. We also have a basketball court, new commercial playground equipment, large open areas, and an inground pool. Additionally we take frequent trips to Watts Bar Lake and other parks to enjoy the sun and country air! Other field trips include popular area restaurants, cinema, and plays/art exhibits in Knoxville.
We have 4 seasonal festivals a year which are very popular and in which the children participate. We rent inflatable recreational equipment, have face painting, play games, cook out lots of delicious food, do storytelling, have puppet shows and plays. It's a blast and staff love it as much as our kids!
Many of our children come to our program from other states. We are particularly suited to provide highly specialized treatment for children who have not progressed through prior care. Some of our specialized programs include:
Autism / Aspergers (New in 2008! See our 3 autism classrooms, sensory room, and autism residential lodge! And our Masters- level Special Education certified teacher has two autistic children of her own! Our occupational therapist who works closely with our clients has 44 years experience!)
Reactive Attachment Disorder (RAD)
Sexually Reactive Disorder
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
Substance Abuse
Assessment and Diagnostic Program (30, 45, 60, 90 or individualized plan) with comprehensive psychological assessment by a Ph.D. forensic psychologist and intensive individual therapy services.
Our specialty programs include clinical pathways and specialized treatment plans based on "best practice" evidence-based interventions!
Our staff has completed independent training and received certification for all conditions included in our program.
TREATMENT MODEL
Each child receives individual, group and family therapy in addition to a variety of expressive and recreational therapeutic activities including equine therapy, pet therapy, play therapy and a life skills program which includes nutrition and cooking, gardening, money management, and career building. Peer and staff mentoring is also provided for residential clients to enhance relationship building.
The treatment and developmental needs of each child are addressed with specific therapeutic interventions determined by the goals and objectives specified in each resident’s treatment plan. Family involvement, including family therapy and participation in the treatment plan development, is a very important factor while the child or adolescent is in the program.
Full-year schooling is provided by teachers state certified in special and general education in an accredited on-campus school. Children receive positive role modeling, unconditional support and participate in activities designed to promote teamwork and self-esteem.
We are currently enrolled in TN Care, WV and KY Medicaid, and many Managed Care Plans.
